May 24, 2023 #9011891Is everyone really making over $100k?Ben HamiltonParticipantMay 24, 2023
Do people exaggerate?
Everywhere I go online it looks like sales people all make six figures. Because I make 60k and I’m working my ass off.
May 24, 2023 #9011892Jeff GraberParticipantMay 24, 2023Jeff Graber May 24, 2023I own the business and my inside sales team consists of three people. One has only been here since March, so she makes a lot less, but the other two makes over $100k.
I can’t stress this enough: Selling is Selling. You can sell small kitchen appliances or you can sell six-figure automobiles, but selling is still selling. If you learn to sell, you can learn to sell anything. That’s why Will’s content is as powerful as it is. There are very few scenarios in which it does not apply, and when you find one, it’s usually because of a specific to that industry, which you can learn relatively quickly.
So it might be that down the road you wind up selling something else that pays more, but the fundamentals of selling are the same.
May 24, 2023 #9011893Will BarronKeymasterMay 24, 2023Will Barron May 24, 2023Hey Ben, it likely depends.
In our Salesman.com Academy PRO program essentially everyone is making 6-figures. But there is some selection bias there.
If they weren’t in a job that had that commission opportunity and they weren’t putting in the effort to get to those numbers then they wouldn’t have joined the program in the first place.
Outside of that bubble, it also depends.
Are you talking about people selling tech and medical devices? Or every salesperson on the planet?

I’m on low $60K before bonuses, but the bonuses are paid quarterly based on profit margin and meeting targets rather than per sale – super hard for me to work out.
Other reps in my company are on $80k before bonus but they have higher targets and are in more competitive markets.Jul 7, 2023 #9512536Ruben PrestonParticipantJul 7, 2023Ruben Preston Jul 7, 2023I’m doing > $500k but I’ve been in the business for a while.
It’s sometimes the job/industry you’re in as much as your skillset.
Jul 14, 2023 #9512568Michelle DixonParticipantJul 14, 2023Michelle Dixon Jul 14, 2023I make six-figures but only after going through the Academy training and doing a bunch of self-development.
If I can manage it, practically anyone can.
