Mar 18, 2024 #9516732Founder wants to meet at the weekendJacky BroadbentParticipantMar 18, 2024
I work for a fast paced, rapidly growing engineering company. Certain market forces (bunch of new wars…) means our production and conuslting has 3x in the past 12-months.
We’re all working like crazy people to keep on top of things.
Obviously it’s an interesting problem to have.
The thing is, the company founder gets on with me, likes to bounce ideas of me and keeps asking me to go to lunch with her at least one weekend a month.
Don’t get me wrong, the job is great but it’s not my business and I don’t want to spend my weekends thinking about the next big thing.
What is the best way to turn her down?

My question would be why do you want to turn her down? I get you need the weekend to decompress but this could lead into you becoming a leader in the industry and some fantastic connections.

If not, there is absolutely no reason to be worried in saying something like –
“Sounds great. Can we stick this in the diary for Monday morning next week? I’ve got stuff on this weekend”.
