    ME: Hi! Are you in charge of hiring at XYZ company?
    THEM: Yes I am
    ME: Ok, great, are you currently hiring any software developers or data engineers?
    THEM: Um, not quite yet
    ME: Got it. My name is Brian, I am the Head of Business Development for BrainCloud Recruiting. We are a niche boutique recruiting firm and we help start ups grow. In, fact 2 of our clients went their first out of network hire to 1 Billion valuation,
    THEM: oh, really, who???
    ME: well, I am more than happy to get into that with you, which is why I am calling. Would it make sense for you to schedule a quick, 15 minute call with me tomorrow to see if we may be a good fit?
    THEM: Yes that sounds great, however I really think we have all we need right now..
    Great, tell me about that…. (let them talk, listen)
    ME: I understand, and if I may, there are holes in your situation. 1 for example is what if tomorrow your data engineer gives you their 2 week notice?
    THEM: TALK
    ME: (Listen, laugh)
    ME: That would stink! I think we have a lot to offer you. Does it make sense to go ahead with a call tomorrow?
    THEM: Yes
    ME: Great sending you an email and see you then!

    I might ask a slightly different and less direct question –

    • What does your process look like for hiring someone like a data engineer?
    • We don’t really have a process.
    • Ah no worries, well I’m Brian…

    Do they know the company? If not then you don’t need to include it because the prospect doesn’t care –

    Got it. My name is Brian, I help start ups grow via the right data scientist placements. In, fact 2 of our clients went their first out of network hire to 1 Billion valuation.
