Apr 5, 2023 #9011118Break Up Email .Greg PetersenParticipantApr 5, 2023
Last call we had talked about breakup email is prospect ghosts you.
Subject: Market Defender Offer No Longer Available
Dear [Customer Name],
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to reach out to you regarding the offer we discussed in our previous conversations .
Unfortunately, I must inform you that the offer is no longer available. I have tried multiple times to connect with you and have heard nothing in response. Therefor, I must assume that you are not committed to solving your marketing problems.
If at some point you decide on your future I will be more than willing to help out. However, I will require a complete reassessment and evaluation of your situation.
If you would like to discuss this matter further please call me at 403-782-5488
Apr 8, 2023 #9011142Stuart SummersParticipantApr 8, 2023Stuart Summers Apr 8, 2023I’m not a fan of these harsh emails Greg. They can offside prospects very easily who might have had good reasons for not getting back to you. Maybe they were going to get back to you in Q3 or Q4 but if they saw an email like this they might not bother anymore. Maybe some softer language like, “sounds to me like project has been put on hold”, or “sounds like xyz isn’t a priority right now.” Don’t burn your bridges.
Apr 9, 2023 #9011143Will BarronKeymasterApr 9, 2023Will Barron Apr 9, 2023You’re on the right tracks Greg but the goal is gently explain to the buyer that you’re not waiting around forever, rather than nuking the potential deal.
- Keep things conversational rather than writing a formal letter
- Give them an easy way to reengage (which is the point of the email)
- I like to ask if something has changed since you last spoke to them
Something more like this –
Subject: [NAME] – End of the road?
Email:
Hi [NAME],
I didn’t hear back from our last conversation.
Did something change?
No problem if this is no longer a good fit for you.
Thanks,
Greg

Apr 10, 2023 #9011152Greg PetersenParticipantApr 10, 2023Greg Petersen Apr 10, 2023Thanks for the feedback.
He is my changed version. I have made it a little less harsh and allowed the potential customer to re engage. I want the email to be more of a closure email so I can move this person into a different category in the CRM and not waste any mental energy on these people.

I must inform you that the original offer is off the table. I have tried to connect with you multiple times and have heard nothing in response.
Typically there is one of two reasons why this happens. One is because an unforeseen event happened within your business. Two is because I failed to fully communicate the opportunity and hence the value of the opportunity.
From my perspective, I believe my company can help you with your marketing needs as the problems that we discussed are exactly what we specialize in solving.
If at some point you decide on your future I will be more than willing to help out. However, I will require a complete reassessment and evaluation of your situation.

I agree – If I got the long one I wouldn’t write back.
If I got the short one I would probably write back a one liner to let the seller know the status.
Might even just go. “Not the right fit at this point” or “Thanks not interested” – But if you get a response at least you know.
