Hey Travis, the first thing is to keep a spreadsheet and try connecting with and without a message with your prospects and see which is more effective.
If your message is for a connection request, it should be along the lines of –
Hi NAME, I work for Gartner in your vertical. It’d be great to connect so I can follow the insights your sharing about our industry.
If you’ve already connected and you’re sending a LinkedIn message to pitch a meeting, it should be much softer.
Think of LinkedIn as a text message exchange, rather than a more “formal” email.
Something like –
